About the Show

Failure: A Love Story by Philip Dawkins is an ensemble-driven, story-theater play that dives into themes of love, family, and the inevitable passage of time. With elements of vaudeville, fairy tale charm, and a lot of heart, this play offers a refreshing escape from cynicism. You'll be transported into a world a bit beyond reality, stretching the audience's imagination.

Here’s a glimpse of the story from the publisher:

By the close of 1928, each of the Fail sisters will have passed away—departing in reverse age order, due to a blunt force, disappearance, and consumption, respectively. Accompanied by tuneful melodies and a whimsical chorus, Failure: A Love Story follows Nelly, Jenny June, and Gerty as they live above their family's clock repair shop near the Chicago River, embracing life until their time unexpectedly runs out. It’s a magical, musical fable where love triumphs beyond individual achievements or failures.

For our production, our actors will engage in physical storytelling. This doesn’t mean you need to be a gymnast to audition—it simply means we’ll use movement creatively and, at times, unexpectedly to convey the story. All physical abilities are welcomed and respected, with an emphasis on working within your personal boundaries.
